While you won’t find a pacing calendar or daily lesson plans, you will find plenty of ways to get your students reading, writing and thinking. A cultural review is, of course, a form of argumentative essay. Your class might be writing about Lizzo or “Looking for Alaska” instead of, say, climate change or gun control, but they still have to make claims and support them with evidence. Before the digital age, review writing was largely the province of a small circle of elite tastemakers. That circle still includes critics at The Times, people like A.O. Scott or Pete Wells, who can make or break a movie or a restaurant with a single review.
Writing for Communication Arts has helped authors land speaking and teaching engagements, and even—if you’ve got the stuff—book deals. Thousands of colleagues will see your work published in print and online in a respected forum. We want your story to be the best it can be, so you’ll get extensive feedback and editorial support from our knowledgeable and passionate staff.
We read each email and regularly answer inside one business day.

We are also interested in original short films/videos and audio/music works. In addition, if you are creating wonderful things with other forms of new media, whether it be GIFs or memes or other forms, we’d love to see them!
